He is Risen! We have life!

This morning i just wanted to post the notes from my morning sermon. I am astonished about the depth of love God has shown to us men through his son Jesus Christ.

Colossians 1:15
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation; 16 because by Him everything was created, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities— all things have been created through Him and for Him. 17 He is before all things, and by Him all things hold together. 18 He is also the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He might come to have first place in everything. 19 For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, 20 and through Him to reconcile everything to Himself by making peace through the blood of His cross — whether things on earth or things in heaven.

21 And you were once alienated and hostile in mind because of your evil actions. 22 But now He has reconciled you by His physical body through His death, to present you holy, faultless, and blameless before Him 23 if indeed you remain grounded and steadfast in the faith, and are not shifted away from the hope of the gospel that you heard.

I. Jesus Christ is the firstborn over all creation.

A. In Christ, we are able to see God.

15 He is the image of the invisible God

Illus: We must begin in understanding who Jesus is. Jesus was poor man, a man who looked like everyone else. Jesus hurt when cut himself in his fathers shop, he was sad when his friends died. He knew the fulless of the human experience, because he himself was fully human, but he was more than just a carpenter, more than a teacher, more than just a man, but he was God in flesh. He was the God who created the flesh that he himself bore. He created the food that sustained him day to day. Jesus Christ is God of All men in human form.

Illus: The world has seen God in is Christ Jesus

God told moses “You cannot see My face, for no one can see Me and live.” (ex 33)

Isaiah told of the day- (40:5) And the glory of the Lord will appear, and all humanity will see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

John spoke of Jesus the flesh of God 1:1, 14, 18
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 All things were created through Him, and apart from Him not one thing was created that has been created.

14 The Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We observed His glory, the glory as the •One and Only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

18 No one has ever seen God. The •One and Only Son — the One who is at the Father’s side — He has revealed Him.

B. Jesus Christ was no normal man, he is our God, our Creator, our savior, and our king.

Illus: From beginning to end, Jesus defines who we are.

From Christ and trough Christ all things have been created (Romans 11)

Jesus Christ is one who knit us together in our mother’s womb. (Psalm 139)

As a child Jesus says come unto me (Mark 10)

When we are weary and burdened He gives us rest. (Mt 11)

When we like sheep had gone astray, He bore our iniquity. (Isaiah 53)

When we choose rebellion, He welcomes us home. (Luke 15)
As we say goodbye to this world He has prepared a place for us (John 14)

In life neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord! (Romans 8)

Illus: Philippians 2:5 Paul describing who jesus was said…
existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be used for His own advantage. 7 Instead He emptied Himself by assuming the form of a slave, taking on the likeness of men. And when He had come as a man in His external form, 8 He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death—even to death on a cross. 9 For this reason God also highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow— of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth — 11 and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

GOD- CREATOR SAVIOR KING

II. Jesus Christ is the firstborn of the dead.

18 He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He might come to have first place in everything. 19 For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, 20 and through Him to reconcile everything to Himself by making peace through the blood of His cross — whether things on earth or things in heaven.

A. Jesus Christ died so that we might live.

Illus: When Israel was freed from the slavery of Egypt, every first born male of Israel was saved by Passover lamb. Exodus 13
By the strength of ⌊His⌋ hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt, out of the place of slavery. 15 When Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, the Lord killed every firstborn ⌊male⌋ in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of man to the firstborn of livestock. That is why I sacrifice to the Lord all the firstborn of the womb that are males, but I redeem all the firstborn of my sons.’ 16 So let it be a sign on your hand and a symbol on your forehead, for the Lord brought us out of Egypt by the strength of His hand.”

III. Jesus Christ is the savior of your soul.

21 And you were once alienated and hostile in mind because of your evil actions. 22 But now He has reconciled you by His physical body through His death, to present you holy, faultless, and blameless before Him

A. Who are you: without Christ you are an enemy of God.

Illus: Col 1:21
21 And you were once alienated and hostile in mind because of your evil actions.

Illus: Mathew 7:22 being religious is not enough.
On that day many will say to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in Your name, drive out demons in Your name, and do many miracles in Your name? ’ 23 Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you!
