He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands!

We really think we are something. We measure ourselves by our might. We boast in our enlightenment. We celebrate our own greatness.

The truth is, we are nothing. The strength of our nation, of our world is just vapor compared to God. Time and again empires and people have risen, built on their own power, boasting in their own might, and time and again empires have fallen and people are shown the futile nature of their wisdom and strength.

As an American I stand proud in my country… I feel safe knowing that there is no country in the world that matches our intelligence or ingenuity in regards to a military defense. I live my life with an assurance of safety knowing that my country has the biggest dog in the fight.

Sometimes our faith in America distracts us from our faith in our Lord. Scripture teaches clearly that all authority (both good and bad) is from God. Scripture teaches that if God were to take his eyes off of us, we would simply cease. From God all things exist. To God all things exist. Through God all things exist. In America there is no defense system, no army that could prevent attack if God were to remove his eyes from us.

God’s pinky finger is greater than the whole of earth’s military resources.

If we were to place all of the great minds together, they would be shown as stupid compared to God.

The application is simple — where do we find our wisdom, where do we find our strength? When life gets tough do we look to the world for our strength or to God? When we need answers do we look to the world for answers, or to God?

1 Corinthians 1:25-For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
